Recommened approval and relocation

I think I asked this before but ...

My asylum application was recommended for approval 4 months ago. I am still waiting for the final approval. Don't know how long I need to wait.

As I just lost my job, it seems inevitable that I have to move to a different state (that has a different immigration office). How will it affect my final approval?

zzzf,

call the asylum office yourself or through your attorney if you retained one to follow-up. The same thing happened to me and it caused a year delay in filing my I-485 because when the asylum office issued the final approval it cannot be back-dated to the date the case was approved, but dated the day the letter was generated. Hope this helps.

talie777, thanks a lot!

So how long did your name check actually take?

I'm not sure because my attorney was supposed to handle everything for me but she dropped the ball and forgot to follow-up with the asylum office. She asked me for a copy of the final approval letter when we were getting ready to file for the I-485 and that's when we realized that we never got one. So she called the asylum office and they issued it within a few weeks but since they can't back-date the letter I had to wait another year from the date of the final approval to file the I-485.
