I filed an Extraordinary Ability by myself in March 2005 (by the way, I personally don't recommend any DIY kit) and got a pretty bad RFE in Aug 2005. I consulted this board (you can find my message in early August) and several lawyers and was about to withdraw my case because I was told there was little chance to win my case. Luckily someone in this board referred a laywer to me (who's my current laywer). After my first conversation with my current laywer, I got back my confidence and decided to hire him to response to my RFE. We worked hard for about a month and sent out the responses in late Oct. My case was approved before Thanksgiving, only a month after my response to RFE.
