Receiving F1 approval when out of country...

Dear Friends:

I have a question regarding F1 approval. I am planning to apply for F1 visa (from H4) in 1st week of December 2006. I have seen on the processing time chart, according to them it may take around 4-5 weeks. My question is...
I am planning to visit India in the last week of December 2006 for 3 weeks. If I get the F1 approval when I am in India what do I have to do? Can I enter into USA on H4 visa or do I need to restamp with F1 visa in India?

I would appreciate it if you coud share your experience and suggestion/advise.

It's true as of today. But may not be true in Dec. Processing time may go up or down.

As soon as you leave US, your change of status application will be cancelled.
