I got the RTD today and the approval date is August 18th. My other RTD expires Sep 16th. Just an FYI that they must have made a policy change..since both are valid...weird.

My RD date for RTD was August 25, 2005.

Are you going to call the INS (at 1-800 WE KNOW NADA) and inform them of this discrepancy and seek expert clarification? Or even better, volunteer to return BOTH RTDs so that they will issue you a new one only AFTER both have expired?

Actually I did call them and the lady had no clue what she was talking about. She said If anything is wrong with the RTD(as in name, dob, etc) then you should send it..

SHE would not listen to me that I have a valid one and I can't have another one...I asked her to transfer me to an officer...Her response, "Well sir, Obviously, your application was looked at by an officer so you do not need to talk to another one".

After pulling the last strand of hair on my head..I said ok whatever and hung up....

Why?

Why would you call them in the first place? I was actually being facetious in my earlier remarks! Remember the dude who volunteered to return the RTD just because it was valid for more than one year!

I am afraid you somehow assume that there is logic at the INS. A good term of reference: only complain when your interest is being adversely affected by their inaction, ineptitude and disorganization (which is 99% of the time anyway). When they screw up to your advantage, enjoy the fruits of their inaction, ineptitude and disorganization. Trust me, unless you have committed fraud in seeking a benefit, you will not be penalized for their screw ups.

TortFeasor!! I agree with you 100% .. If they have screwed up on anything, I will just keep my mouth shut and enjoy the benefit... for example if they backdate my gc 5 years, I'll be jumping up and down and would keep quiet.

Wantmygcnow! Why are you worried at all if they have issued you a new RTD while old one is valid. It has happened to me before and trust me nothing is wrong.
