Hi everyone,

This forum has been very useful to me. Thank you to everyone of you for posting your details, encouraging me and everyone who were worried at some time or other during the entire green card process. For those of you still wating for 485 approval, I hope your approval will come through fast.

My case was approved on 6/19/02, passport was stamped on 7/502 and I got the plastic card on 7/30/02

I still visit the site from time to time and it's good to see that people are getting approvals.

Good luck and have fun.

When can we go stamping?

How long a time period does the INS allow you to go stamping at the most? I just got the news of approval yesterday (8/7) but my wife is in India now (she lost her father recently). Is it okay if we go end Sep, about month-and-half from now?

TIA,

It's better to get it stamped ASAP. Read this:

IBIS Check Rule and Need for Prompt Passport Stamping of 485 Approval

AILA inquiry with the INS HQ indicates that once EB-485 is approved and people appear at the District Offices for passport stamping of temporary evidence of permanent residence and I-89 processing for plastic card production, the District Offices need IBIS check if 35 days have passed since the IBIS check undertaken by the Service Centers passed 35 days because the IBIS check is valid only for 35 days. When the stamping can not be granted because of such problem, the District Offices are instructed to give a temporary 30-day stamping so that people can continue to work and travel. It is thus strongly suggested that the people who receive the I-797 Approval Notices appear at the District Offices as quickly as possible to avoid such problem.

milli - please explain

35 days between which 2 dates is being referred here ? I guess the FP check is done way before
the approval comes in.

Thx.
