I wish all the best too.. I was somehow getting surprise that almost everbody with PD of Dec 2004 received the 2nd FP notice. But, now I am not expecting anything. But, I do know one thing is that "my name check is done" (since I have the letter from FBI). Now I have to wait for this USCIS security check.

our story goes like this....we got the email from FBI longback(2 yrs ago) that they cleared the name check for myself and my spouse. Subsequently, i got approved 1.5 yrs ago. But my spouse still hasn't gotten yet, and USCIS say it's due to name check. The otherday i went to Infopass, and they said the same. No one cares to look what we got from FBI. All they care is if they got it or not may be they might have lost it too in transmission, who knows. Check our PD and RD. I think we'll only get it through WOM. After trying with congressman/Infopass etc.,, just mailed all documenation to Ombudsman and after waiting a month for his response, i'll go with WOM.

Hang in there mk_gc! While your experience is certainly nerve wracking, I think you should take heart from two things. One - the people that answer the phones at USCIS aren't the best informed. There have been so many cases of incorrect information being handed out. I recall reading about one guy who was told on the phone that his name check was pending but he was approved the same afternoon. Granted that may be rare - but don't lose hope yet. Of late, it seems to take about 6 weeks or so after 2nd FP to get approved - so you have some more time left before feeling that you are in yet another security check delay.

Second, unless you fall into some rare blackhole of USCIS checks, the other security checks shouldn't take that much time. The name check is usually the longest. USCIS claims that other checks like IBIS are reasonably fast and can be completed in minutes. Bottom line - don't lose hope. Try to ask your lawyer and or congressman/senator to inquire about your case. Their information will be more reliable usually.

I will post any information I get from the Senators office as I get it -- esp with regards to my name check. I will also post if there is any movement on my case after my FP.

meanwhile wish eveyone good luck!!!

Hopefully, you would very soon hear the good news - normally it can take anywhere between 1 week to 2 months after the 2nd FPs are done - to hear the good news about 485 approval. So, Best of luck buddy, I bet you would get your Approval definately before middle of March.

rduman,

I have been hanging here for last 6 years and couple of additional weeks not gonna hurt. But, I was really very optimistic after receiving letter from FBI and 2nd FP notice. That's why it is taking some time to adjust..

Keep our fingers crossed.

I gave my 2nd fingerprint yesterday. Prior to that I took Infopass to find out about my case status. I was told that it has been cleared. Also I am working with a local congressman who is very helpful in making inquiries with USCIS and FBI. He attached a letter that he got from VSC which says that they have sent me 2nd FP notice and once it is done they can adjudicate my case'.
Hope something is positive there after giving 2nd FP notice.

Guys who got 2nd FP try to get Infopass and make sure 'Name Check' has been cleared because it is the worst phase in our GC process.

Hope for the best to everyone.

thats great news dude!!!

Name Check cleared!!!

My local congressman's office has just confirmed that my name check has been cleared!!! I am not sure when they were cleared but finally that stage is hopefully behind me :) unless USCIS comes up with some other reason to delay my application I am hoping to see a positive result soon --

Congrats man,I think they are clearing name checks based on PD's now.

Not PDs but when they receive the request

I dont think FBI has knowledge of PDs but now they are clearing the NC cases they they received in June-July 2005 timeframe (cases with a hit)

That may be good news for me but what makes you say "June-July 2005", I thought most cases are of 2004?

It is a great news supply_demand. Yes I guess so about FBI clearing that period as my NC was initiated on April 19th 2005. So keep your fingers crossed as 2007 seems to be a good year as far as GC is concerned.

just an observation

most, if not all the cases I have been tracking that were filed in late 2004, gt their name checks sent to FBI around the June-July timeframe.

Generally name check requests are sent right after a I485 application is filed but till date I have not received a definite answer on why the VSC choose to wait for ~8 months before sending the name check request.

SO nevertheless I think FBI is snding back responses for requests they received around the june-july timeframe for name check
