Guys,

Thanks for all the support, this forum has been very very helpful.
I never had so much information before attending this forum.
Here are my details.
My interview was scheduled for 7th August, EB3
Medicals were no problems at Lilavati, was in at 8:00 and out by 11:00.
My Own photo studio worked without any problems, go there in the morning if you was same day service, going there in the afternoon gurantees next day evening service.
Interview at 9:30, was in by 9:15 , my case was AC140, so had to pay first. I had one draft each for $335 for me and my wife.
The lady called us for the papers, they only took Passports, photos, police certificate, birth certificate, marriage certificate, they did not accept the marriage affidivat they told us only marriage certificates are accepted, also requried was the notarized employment letter.
They take a look at the originals, take a copy and give the originals back. They need the same thing for my wife except for the employment letter.
About 11:00 they called us in a booth, made us take the interview. MY wife had a valid H1 till Oct. 2002. Mine had expired on 10th May 2002, they didn't even to look at the extension receipt notice for the H1.
Was told to come and collect everything by 3:30, no other papers asked.
Aha, one more thing, they made me sign a paper which said I'll go back and work for the same employer.
At 3:30, there were 2 different line, one for immigrant and one for non-immigrant, make sure you are the correct line.
My port of entry is Boston on 15th August, will let you know about that experience too.
:)

I too am an EB3 case trying to to AC140 at Mumbai

Hi GC7-11.
If you don't mind my asking, I have some questions for you.
I have my Masters degree but my case is EB3 (Employer doesn't require EB2). I have filed my 485 last year, but now want to change and go via the AC140 route. How did you process your application? Did you first file for the I824 or was your case accepted without the 824 receipt and you took the receipt with you for the interview?
I sent in my paperwork to the Mumbai consulate last week minus the I-824 since I wanted to make sure that they would accept the case for AC140 processing. However today I got an email from them saying that they didn't process it because they didn't receive the I-824 receipt. I am a little worried that they might not accept the case since it is EB3. Since you're EB3, I feel that there's a good chance that it will be accepted. What are your thoughts on this? Also could you give me a time line of what happens once the papers are submitted to the Mumbai consulate? How long between turning in the initial paperwork and getting an interview date?
Thanks much!

You have to have the I824 receipt to send your case for AC140 processing.
They accepted my AC140 case around 2nd-3rd week of May and
scheduled an interview for August. I would say about 2-2.5 months is the normal waiting time after the consulate receives your P3.

Q1 - Do you speak English ?, I think mine was the only employment based GC that day, rest were all family -based.
Q2 - To my wife, were you on H4 or H1, were you on H1 always. She was always on an H1.
Q3 - Your visa expired on 10th MAy 2002, I told them I have the extension receipt notice fax with me, they didn't want to check it.

Thats all. Hope it helps.
