hi, my father and I are both deriative asylees and on july 21st we both got emails tell us that the rfi have been sent, but we didn't received them at our old address that's my friend's place. now last week my father's case<not mine case> was updated saying the mail got returned to INS and need him to update his address.
so I called INS today to change our old mailing address to our current address by 1800-375-5283 - 1,2,2,2,2.

when I reach the service rep I forgot to mention about the returned letter to him at first, instead I just told him that I need to change my application address, only after he took some information I started describing my situation and he said after the address is updated wait 30days for the returned or lost notice. if nothing arrived within30 days then call them again.

My question is did I make a mistake by telling the service rep about 'address change' before ' lost letters'? Do I have to call them again just to focus on the lost letter aspect?

Call the 1800 number again and start by telling them that You got an email (mention date) that a RFI was sent and then another email(mention date) that it was returned to USCIS.

Then tell them that your address is already updated and you already did that. Tell me that you want them to send the RFI again. if she says wait 30 days..mention that the RFI email says "if 14 days has passed" quote...

In the meantime, get the biographic forms and medicals ready..Let us know what happens and if you are succesfull/not succesful.

You should talk to the officer instead of customer representatives.
Customer representatives will not be able to help you because they only see the most updated message. After a couple days, your online message will be "We have responded to ....", instead of whatever you saw before.
You will get a notice about you calling them changing your address in your application.

Do not wait until 14 days because it has nothing to do with your RFE.

Note: Did you call them today? you should call them again immediately before the message has changed.

how do I reach an officer? what options should I choose?

Its very easy to say talk to an officer but its tough to get to them. Do like i told you and you may get to an officer..ONLY the stupid reps can transfer you to an officer...ALSO write a letter ASAP...Keep on calling until you are satisfied.
