I have a little problem. I understand to check the status of my application online I need to access it with my receipt number, which is supposed to be on the top left hand corner of my I-979C Notice of Action form. However, on the top left it states "Receipt with Exception." What does this mean? Beneath there is a application number that starts WSC* and is followed by 9 digits. I thought this would work, but I receive an error when trying to sign on. Any advice?

"Receipt with Exception" usually means that you either forgot to include some of required documents with your application, or they need to see some additional documentation based on how you filled out your application.Darco said:
The number starting with WSC* is your receipt number. Never mind the messages you get on-line. It might be fine in a while (it takes a long time for INS to update their files). Never expect to see the right information when you check your status on-line.

i got the similar error to say my receipt number is incorrect or does nto exist.. etc etc. i called to 800# national customer service and someone told me the n400 apps status does not show from online.
however, after read some posts in this forum, it seem the status for n400 application does show online thou.
i might give a try again in next month

No, that is not true. I did my interview already. My case never showed up online. technically, the online database is separate for the one used by DO office. It seems some of the cases don't make it to the online database.
