We sent our N-400 applications to Arizona lock box about two weeks ago and we just received the NOA. The interesting thing is that the receipt number is the same for both me and my wife. I never saw this before during green card process.
Is this normal or should we contact the USCIS?

One check for two diffrent applicant won't be process and most likely will return.Are you referring to reference number on top of NOA or on bottom left? If you paid with one check the one on bottom will be the same.

I did conclude it when I and my spouse applied for travel document with one check around 2004 and whole package came back to me for that reason.That's how. I would love to know which couple you are refering to in the past if any.How do you conclude that? Many couples have successfully sent in one check with their two applications in the past.

The discussion here is about the N-400, not the I-131. Most likely USCIS is not consistent with how to deal with one check for applications.

Well, the discussion here is about method of payment of any application including N-400 or any other. I did not know there is diffrent handeling of payment for diffrent applications and as of now I am sure It should not. Correct, so it seems that USICS is inconsistent with how they process one check for two applications since in the same link others have reported success. Therefore, it's still possible the OP was successful in sending one check. Best to wait for the OP's response rather than going on further assumptions.
