What is the actual definition of receipt date for 485 processing with respect to district office timings? Will it be the same for all the district offices? For example if they state that they are crrently processing cases as of receipt date August 28th 2003 does it mean receipt date of actual 485 application or the recieved date when the district office receive the application? (in my case it is September 2004)

It should be the original 485 receipt date at the Service Center. I believe all District Offices should deal with it equally.

I am client of Rajiv S. Khanna for my 485 case. A while ago i asked the same question to rajiv. He said that "I think they process it based on the date they receive the case?" When i call 1-800-375-5283 (service center help line) they say that 485 date processing what ever they provide is only for people who file their case completely at local office but it won't be relevant in your case. I am revolving around multiple answers. What should we base upon. Lot of district offices are processing 485 around 2004. If they are doing based on RD then why are they taking 7months - 1year to schedule the interview? There is some gap some where.

The poor thing is there is no proper way to communicate with local office.

Feedback on 485 Cases Transferred to Local Offices.

Finally guys i got confirmation about the transferred 485 applications processing timings. What ever the timings are provided by district offices are only relevant for family based applications that are directly filed in local office. For transferred applications officially there is no date as such. The only way to know the status of the case is to talk to Immigration officer by fixing an appointment through Infopass. I really have no idea how much really congressman or senator can help.

I contacted the senator John Warner's office today morning, the lady who handles the immigration related issues said that we can only inquire with the district office only if we didn't receive any response after 6 months the case is transferred.

My case is transferred to washington dc office on 23rd september, 2004. It can take up to 6 months in the normal course of time for the interview to be scheduled. In some cases it might be in 1 -4 months time also.

All the people whose cases are transferred have to keep their spirit up and wait for the decision/interview letter thats all i can tell guys after researching from last 4-5 days extensively.

If you got that answer via the 1-800 number then it's worth every penny you paid for it. It can tell you for a fact that this is not how they do things in Atlanta. They go by original 485 receipt date.

They might process the transferred cases by receipt date. But the official 485 date published in district process timings are not for transferred cases they are only for family based cases it seems. For transferred they don't publish seperate processing timings.
