Receipt Date at Local office?

When a case gets transfered to a local office (i.e. Seattle), is the receipt date, as far as the local office is concerned, the date on which the transfer was made from the service center to the local office? Or is it the date on which the application was filed at the service center?

Thanks in advance!

Local office process the case according to THEIR received date, which can be anything between couple of weeks to several months after 'Transfer date' from Service center.
In my case, transfer date was Dec 2, 2004, and received date by local office was Dec 21, 2004.
You still have your original 'received' date (by service center for I-485) and theoretically you can call national customer service if this is a year or so later than they process...but does not help much since they transfer your inquire to local center anyway...

Seattle is currently processing applications from May 2005, so I think I will have 7 or 8 months of waiting before I hear from them. In addition to the wait time for the FBI name check. I have no idea if it is cleared or not!

I think the best thing to do is just relax and wait. In a way, I feel lucky that my application is out of Nebraska!

Let the waiting game start again :D

There is not clear written rule from local office about it.

It is assumed that date should be treated same as org application is filed to service center, but many shared that as all applicant expect their case would immidiately be considerd to call intw becz they filed perior than local offices are processing that rarely happened and many ppl shared their exp. that they waited a couple of months to get clear, it also depend on local office workload too.

Try to read thread from "CuriousGeorge" and "Progonnar????"/ or somthing like that"

CuriousGeorge was from Miami area
and Progannar??? was from Atlanta

search their name.

Good Luck

Did I mention?? Stay Green and don't go blue while getting Green :D

You are correct - it depends. I can tell you that my case (and those of many with me) was processed by Atlanta District Office based on the original receipt date of the I-485 at VSC, NOT my transfer date to Atlanta. That's the way it SHOULD be handled, but you may need to get cofirmation of this through your Representative or Senator's office. USCIS information gives widely varying answers on the subject.

Keep in mind that some offices start pulling files off of the shelf a few months early to start the FP interview process, and others might have a limited group of examiners for EB-485 cases.

Cheers!

Thank you all for your input! As usual, the USCIS process is vague and open to many inturpetations!

I'm just going to wait until mid January and I will email the Seattle office again. I emailed them last Sunday night, and I got a response from them at 7:45 Monday morning! I will bug them again in a month or so!
