Bottom line is....... "Name check" is mandatory regardless of any immigration benefit .....from US citizenship ...to issuance a Visa.

Question is " why does it take so long ............from 2 months to 18 months" ?

Isn't the failure of the "system" in these days or any politics behind it ???

2004 Election is coming........ I hope, people will vote the right person .......at least try .......hopefully new system will take "short time" to resolve any immigration matter.

Good luck to everyone.....

Money

Questions>>
1) Where does the money (application fee) go?

2) It is not the lack of employees.

3) All applicants (most) are immigrants, not that much fluent in english, do not have confidence to urgue with authority.

4) If these applicants were Americans(US born) , it would be a national issue for sure. They would work fast & it would not be "disfunctonal" like now.

5) Applicants(immigrants) are not Voters, so nobody cares about them.

6) Actually they underestimate the immigrants ........like immigrants are stupid or weak.......they can not do anything .

So , just go slowly & they don't care about applicants(immigrants) at all.

1) Dont think there are statistics of allocation of app fee
2) The INS is **grossly** understaffed, so are some agencies in FBI. I read Congressional testimonies and spoke with immigration lawyers
3) True, this is true with most Govt agencies - FBI/IRS/INS/A judge. You just cant argue with these folks without an attorney or big bucks!
4) INS is one of the MOST incompetent Govt agencies. Noone knows a thing. The vast majority of Americans dont deal with them
5) Not entiely true. Congressmen/Politicians have been been known to help (atleast in our case) Perm Residents

The INS 800 number is a PERFECT example of how the system has failed. You call, you wait 45 mins to speak to a Govt Contractor, who *DOES NOT* have any personal info abt u to answer ur questions. lot of times the system hangs up and says call later , itz buzy!

Then you wait another 30 mins to speak to an INS officer who makes u wonder how they passed the English test and how they even manage in a day-day situation with such poor communication. On top of that they are arrogant ,haughty and dont know as much as even me! I have tried calling atleast 15 times till now and atleast on 10-12 times the person at the other end was a waste of taxpayer money. Not even fit for a minimum wage job. If i had only taped one or two of their statements,......

The problem is that INS is not staffed well and the staff they
have on hand is very poorly trained, antiquated and most of the
time useless. Since they are govt, they cant be fired overnite... So unless they hire new blood (typical example = TSA, they are so much better now!), INS will be sub par
