Reason for staying outside USA for 6 months

Hi,

My wife stayed outside USA just over 6 months (182 days) in one of two foreign trips. We need to give a written explanation on a separte sheet of paper. She had to postpone her trip due to kids health. Do we need to provide the evidence for the explanation, i.e, doctor visit or other kind of evidence related to kids health. Alternatively, we can just mention the reason in the explanation letter.

Yes, provide as much evidence as you are able to.
