re-interview

I'm applying for citizenship based on marriage. The tax record I submitted from the IRS didn't match the tax form I submitted. One is filing jointly, and one is filing seperately. I think the reason is the tax form I submitted is based on my memory of what I filed with IRS, and I remembered wrong.

The IO gave me a re-interview on 2/9/2009. He requested me bringing documents like bank statement, utility bill, copy of driver liscence. There's no problem for me to bring in these evidence. But should I be worried? What do they usually do at this point? Open up an investigation?

I don't think they'll "open an investigation"; They just want you to bring some more documental proof of the marriage being legitimate, and are just waiting for it.
I would take the following documents, if you have them "joint"; meaning both your and your wife's names are on them:

bank statements; from several years, about 3-4 per yr.
Car titles/registration
Health and/or life insurances
Bills/ credit card statements
Leases
--any other official/serious documents where both your names are on---

It would also give a better impression if your wife is also present when you go to the interview. Was she there the 1st time?

No. I asked the IO if I should bring my spouse next time. He said no. I asked him if it'd help if I bring him anyway. He said no, he won't be able to come in.

This is so worrying. This messed up with all the plan I have in Feb.

I doubt they'd open up an investigation too, because they asked me to come back on 2/9, which is the next available interview date. If they do investigations, I think it'd take longer than 2 months, and they'd probably give me an open notice of something like "we'll ask you back for interview after the investigation". Am I right? Or am I just paranoid at this point?

don't worry too much. I guess the best you can do is collect those things, and as much as you can...anything you can think of, and go to the 2/9 IV.

I know that the spouse can't go INTO the interview room, but I think it gives a good impression to see him with you before they call you in for the IV...just in general.

I'm so worried now. Any ideas?

Being worried would not help you.

Instead I recommend you prepare well. Get all the document that washburn suggested. Get hold of your marriage album get hold of any document that proves that you have been living with your spouse.

Since your tax docuemnts had issues get them sorted out. Get federal AND state tax transcripts for three years. Go over your N400 application and make sure you have everything matches with with your documentation. If not prepare an explanation with support docs.
