Re-Interview notice Received

I have applied for US citizenship based on 5 years in Houston DO in July 04, and interviewed Feb. 05. I passed the exam with 100 % and the interview went very smooth. However, I was told the decision can't be made because of the name check and old A file missing. Today, I have received a letter from DHS asking me to re-appear for the interview for the following reasons: Re-examination on Govt/Hist of the US and Naturalization re-interview.

Has any body received this naturalization re-interview? I am very confused now. Could it be because of my old A file? The old A file was a work Authorization which I have obtained during the Amnesty of 1987 (LULAC, CSS). But later on I have changed my status to H1B. Also, I have obtained the GC through employer as well. I paid US $ 1000 fine to cover any period of gap where I did not have any H1B status (under this law if you filed your labor certification prior to April 1987, you can pay the fine).

Can somebody help me with this situation? I know Joef has lots of info on this amnesty cases? I have seen his postings. Any info from anybody will really be appreciated.

joey101,
I am not aware of any re-interviewing case. I suggest that you consult an experienced immigration attorney and take him with you for the interview. I guess they really want to sort out your files and "status" during that time.
Good luck and write your experience here when you are done.

Joey,
what happened to your re-interview? please submit some details.
thanks

The interview was on May 2nd at 8:30. Was called in for the interview at 8:45. A very nice immigration officer told me that everything was ok and there was no need for me to come to the interview. He informed me that he has received my 2nd A file and he has everything he needs in the file. But a decision still can't me made because of the pending name check. He told me that I will not be getting any re-interview letters anymore and the next thing I should receive will be the oath letter. The whole conversation (interview) took about 1 to 2 mins while we both stood in his office.

The interview was on Monday. The officer told me that he was going to give me a call on Thursday night to inform me not to come to the interview because INS have received all the info and there was no need for me to come in. However, he decided not to call me and let me come in on Monday thinking that my name check may get clear by that time, and he will give me the oath letter. Alas! it did not happen.

what a wasted of time going there but at least, you got everything sorted out, sort of. next step would have to chase after FBI for the name check. may I ask your original nationality?

pls takes no offense but i wonder name check got hit highly by certain nationalities?

I'm in the same boat as you are.I had my interview done on Feb20-2008, My previous case was a work Authorization which I have obtained during the Amnesty of 1987 (LULAC, CSS) during that time people told me that I can get my grrencard in 6 months time which never happened and then I got married to a US citizen in 2001.During my Green card interview the IO asked me and my lawyer what about my previous case,my lawyer gave some paperwork and told the IO that that old case needs to be closed. The interview went fine. However a decision could not be made. The IO of my citizenship interview told me that all my marriage case paper work is in order onlything he has to locate my previous case and close it,which the Greencard officer did not close.which will take 2 weeks time he said. He said wait for the mail from INS.Question is will my old amnesty case will create any problems? Did anyone else experinced similar situation.
Please reply.
