I won DV green card. But I am doing phd in germany. I still have 2 more years to finish my phd. I am in the dilemma of quitting phd or getting re entry permit.

Can I apply for re entry permit just after getting GC?

Can I fill tax return in germany as well as in US? Do I have to pay double tax?

I want to take my wife and kid back to germany, can they also get re entry permit based on my phd?

Does the immigration officer ask for prove of ties to US or create problems when I come back to stay in US after my phd?

Yes you may file at both places. You can claim credit on taxes paid in Germany when filing your US return.

With a 2 year re-entry permit based on education, it should not be a problem. Just make sure you do not make this a habit.

Why? If he has a reentry permit, he can stay up to 2 years outside without being deemed to abandon his residency.

Why bother! But of course the more entries the better.

As long as you stay in EU (Germany) yes. But not if you move outside.
