Re-entry Permit for Me and/or My Wife ?

Hi all,
My question is about re-entry permit. Does "only 1 re-entry permit" (for wife or husband) covers all family?

for example, my wife is principal green card winner. We want to stay in our homeland for a couple of years for my work. Is it enough for me to show my "work status" and get a re-entry permit that covers my wife, too (during arriving the USA for the first time)?

in other words,
I and My wife should SEPERATELY show valid reasons for abandoning the USA for 2 years?? or only one reason is enough? for eample, I work in homeland and my wife is with me. So since she is the principal green card winner, but i am the worker and we r together. so my re-entry permit reason covers her too?

I hope I am clear.
waiting for your replies,
Thanks,

A re-entry permit applies only to ONE permanent resident, so each of you need a separate one. So, TWO. You can use the same reason for both of you. It's not that important.

Thank you very much, cafeconleche. Also, what can be the other reasons to go USA at a later time by getting a re-entry permit? (for example; school, work, health issues, .... what more?)

Actually we have just married. And We need to stay some years to balance our life here in our homeland. We cant afford to move to USA soon. But, after some years, it would be fine.

So briefly;
1-go to the USA
2-apply for re-entry permit on the first day of arrival (Ask them to process forms faster. Show a acceptable reason to leave USA. If married, one reason is enough for both.)
3-wait for acceptance of the forms.
4-wait for biometrics appointment (about 2 to 4 weeks)
5-give biometrics info (fingerprint, etc...)
6-leave USA for 2 years.

Right??? :)

Your plan looks good. The re-entry permit is a travel document (like a passport) that you must carry with you when you re-enter the country after being out for more than a year. You can use it as many times as you want, and can show it even if you come for a visit after eight months, for example. In the application, you can ask them to send the re-entry permits to the US consulate or embassy in your home country. Also, when it comes to the reason you need the re-entry permit, what I meant was that the reason is not THAT important. So, you can say that you just got your DV and need some extra time in your home country to settle things before you fully move to the US. Most DV winners say this. Your reason is also fine. Good luck.
