re-entry permit and US citizenship

My wife and I are eligible to file for citizenship next month on 20 April 2003. Both of us lost our jobs recently and we want to pursue opportunities in India for the next 2-3 years.

if we file for citizensip and then go to India, do we still have to file for re-entey permit?

How long does it take to get the re-entry permit?

Can we file for the re-entry permit and give a friends address, and go to india. My friend can mail me the permit when it comes.

Basically, I want to get my citizenship, as well as leave for India as soon as possible. Can someone please advise.
 
Unfortunately, I do not believe that that is a viable option. You still need to maintain and meet the residency requirements even after you file for your naturalization. Your best bet is to wait till both you and your wife get your us citizenships before going to India to work for 2-3 years.
 
can't we go to india after filing for citizenship And keep coming back for a short time before 6 months are over.
