I am an Indian National staying with my husband and family in the US on L2 Visa. My husband has an L1 Visa. I got married in 2000.

I was using my maiden name till 2006. When my passport became due for renewal we decided to change my name to the married name and got a new passport from the Indian consulate (in US) with the married name. However, my L2 Visa and I-94 still contains my maiden name only. My Visa and I-94 are valid till Feb 2008.

I am currently in US but plan to take a summer vacation to India in Aug 2007. I want to check if this create any issues during re-entry to US. Please advise if I need to carry any supporting documents.

You should go to your local county court

It looks like you changed your name in US by yourself and put it on your current passport, not going through the US court process.

You should go to your local county court to explain your intent to change your name and your situation, the court and judge should change your name officially for you and give your a certificate for your name change. With this piece of paper, you name is formally changed inside the US, and also with the paper, you should not have problem during your re-entry to US.
