Re-entering Canada from US using Landing Paper (IMM 1000)

Is it possible for a returning Canadian permanent resident from abroad who still has a Landing Paper (IMM 1000), but never applied for a PR Card, to be allowed by the Canadian authorities to cross the border from the US in a private vehicle by showing a Landing Paper only?

I have a multiple-entry B1/B2 US visit visa but was unable to file an application for a Canadian Temporary Travel Document at the Canadian HC / Consulate due to lack of sufficient documentation to prove that my absence from Canada did not exceed 3 years during the last 5 years (as mandated by the law).

Moreover will I face any problem if I wish to return back to the US using the same B1/B2 US visit visa again.

You are most welcome to respond at my following e-mail address: fenver@hotmail.com

fenver, i am also in the same situation where i have been in US for over 5 years and have a canadian immigration since 1997. went back to canada once, in 2001 with landing paper, at that time PR card was not in place. after that the PR came icame in 2003 and thats a requirement now for re-entering canada for immigrants. i dont have a PR card yet but have applied for one based on my employment being with a canadian employer, but working at its US headquarters. i am also looking for answers to similar question that you have.. so pl post any information if you have found out.

i have researched through my sources and have following information (may or may not be useful, but still sharing.. ):
i heard that if you are trying to enter by road from buffalo, they dont check your PR card. but if you enter by air at a canadian air-port then PR card is required for immigrants to re-enter canada. (as said, "i heard", so not sure! just heard from friends etc)
if you get into canada, and have a valid US visa (stamped on your passport with multiple entry) then there is no problem getting back into US.

Anyone has more info on this issue.. please post. thanks

------------that is correct. they just ask "what is your status sir" "Permanent resident of Canada returning home"
or" where is your home
---- say the city in Canada
"Go"
(ifo provided by a person who entred through Buffalo Q.L bridge better to go in canada plated car )
