Hi, Guys;

My NIW based 485 case (RD 10/18/01, ND 11/30/01) has been transferred to Baltimore on March 5 for interview. Positive thing is that my case has been touched, and negative is that it might take longer to relief.

I have been laid off 1 month ago. Due to the economy downturn, it is possibile that I will neither have an employment nor have a job offer at the interview time. Besides the effort of hunting a job, what should I do? Your comments are appreciated.

Baltimore is fast

on the interview front. I guess you'll be called within a month. Only pray/hope that they don't ask for too many papers

Try to get an employment letter from some consulting company. Your friend/desi company and produce the latest paystubs which you have. Nothing alse can be done. But, I am sure you will pass the interview. Good Luck !!

Gchello,

Sorry to hear about your job situation.

If yours was a self-petitioned NIW, no job is required. However, a job offer would help. If you can produce evidence/letter showing something like "your current unemployment is due to research funds running out, but waiting for the grant renewal and would be re-employed then" - might help. I am not 100% sure - this is just my shot. To be on safe side, collect other evidence of continuing NIW activities - like your publications/prize/awards, etc. that took place after I-140 approval. I would recommend taking a competent lawyer with you during the interview, especially if you happen to have no job at that time. Please read again carefully the following:

Keep us posted after your interview. Good luck.
