Quitting school, OPT an option?

I am currently on an F-1 enrolled for a PhD. I graduated with an MS in the US last year. I did not opt for OPT then and immediately enrolled in another school for a PhD. Am I eligible to get a year's OPT now that I want to quit the PhD program? If so, how do I go about doing it? If not, what are my options? Planning to quit school in august this year.

get your PhD OPT for a year, without telling them about quitting school desire. After you are done with OPT, and don't come back to school you will fall out of status. You will need to return to your home country or get a different status before OPT ends.
