Quick question on F1 to H1B

I have a very general question regarding my F1 visa status.

I had finished my Masters’ degree and currently on my OPT- Optional Practical Training, which gets over in July.
I got an offer from a company and they were willing to process my H1B as early as possible.
As one of the options I decided to enroll for a PhD this summer (starting May10th, 2004) and was planning to work for the company as an Intern on my CPT- Curriculum Practical Training starting May 2004 – December 2004.

Question:
1. If I apply for an H1B starting October 1st, 2004 in May (after getting into school around May 10th) and get it approved, will it affect my F1 status or in other words can I continue my CPT as student till October 1st and then quit school to become an employee? Are there any legal complications in my status?

2. If I apply for a premium processing in May 2004, will I get my visa approved within two weeks or will my visa be processed after October 1st, 2004?

I would be very grateful if you could answer me.

Vijay.

++++++++++++If you are given approval and adjustment of status prospectively (H-1 from October 1), you will continue to be on F-1 until September 30. I see no problem.

Vijay,

I dont know if you checked with your international office in the school you have applied for PhD but my understanding is that if you join school, for the first two semesters of the program, you are not allowed to do an intern.
