Quick Question on A number assigned

Guys,

When we file I-485, our case is assigned with a 'A' Number.
I think this is unique per case. ( I have one for my case and one for my wife case. In fact they are in sequence. )

Now my question is if this A number is a serial number assigned for EB category?
If so, based on this can we find how many applications are filed in EB category?

Just a tought...

Thanks

One cannot depend on A number.

A number is per Alien, it need not be a sequence number. Every immigration visa is suppose to create a A number. It includes lot many cases then EB based I-485s.

I had two A-numbers at the time of filing I-485. In TSC they assign A number with I-140, In my case there were two I-140s so got two different numbers (actually there should be only one number per alien but..). So it took app. 1.5 months extra to generate my I-485 receipts as there was some extra process involved to combine those two A files.
