Quick question about drivers license

I am in the process of AOS. I filled I-485 and I-130 on june 16 and I sent the I-765 yeasterday (I didn't know it was free if filled with I485). I am in FL. Currently OOS but came on F1. I tried to get my drivers licence but I was told that to come back btwn 8 and 4 so that the can verify my status with USCIS because the only immigration doc I had was receipt for the I-485 form. I am not sure if going back will be beneficial because the timeline says that I am in Request for additional information review. (In other words they asks for an additional sponsor. I sent the info and they are reviewing it.)

The reason I am so desparately trying to get a license is because I have a profession exam schedule in 3 weeks and my current DL and passports are both expired. For the exam I need a valid ID (not expired). I am pulling my hair on what I should do on this one. My future employer is getting in patient with me because I have to wait for my GC to start working. I will be worse if they find out that I have not even taken the exam (If I have to wait for the GC to get an ID to take the exam). Because the means that after the GC comes I still wont be able to work because the exam takes 4 to 6 weeks to process.

Anyway thats a lot of info for a quick question. I kind of wanted to vent too. A little stressed here.

Thanks everybody

Did you include a copy of the I-485 receipt with the I-765 application that you sent yesterday?

The employment card normally takes 2-3 months to be approved. You just sent the I-765 yesterday, so it's 95% certain you won't get it this month. You need to contact your country's consulate regarding an expedited passport renewal, you might be able to get the passport within the next 3 weeks.

You let your F1 and DL and passport lapse, and you didn't file the I-765 together with the I-485 even though you were searching for jobs and were planning to take a professional exam. What else have you done to screw up your own situation? Did you travel outside the US without Advance Parole, since filing the I-485?

I have been trying to renew my passport for 6 months. But because I dont have copy national ID (equivalent to a SS card) they are giving me problems with renewing even though I sent them a copy of my birth certificate.

I didn't let my DL relapse it was tied to my I-20. And I am not sure what you mean by I let the F1 relapse. I finished school took otp went back to school finished grad school. How else would I have maintained my F1. The only options after FI where getting married (easy), H1(hard), go back home (easy but chances of coming back hard), OOS (believe it or not most people think its just temporary but years pass by). I am glad I waited to get married for the right reasons because I cant imagine being in a fake relationship

With all due respect, if you didn't have any constructive advice why did you bother replying

He gave you constructive advice. If you cannot take criticism, don't ask. And you DID screw up by letting your passport expire!:)

If you read my post I explain that I have been trying to renew my passport for over 6 month. It only expired a month ago. I am not sure what you mean I let it expire.

You have no advise either so I dont even know why you wasted your time.

Would have, should have is not helping just a waste of time. If you have nothing to add just go on with you life. Is your life that boring? get a dog or something.

Any person who says getting married is easy and dispassionately compares it vis a vis getting an H1 clearly does not not understand much or might be construed to be in this thing purely for an immigration benefit. Good luck!

The whole thing with uscis is being patient......
which country are you from?
Will your country issue you an international driving license?
friend of mine had the similiar situation, he took his spouse with him and took marriage license and immigration paperwork and was able to convince the officer to give him a license for one year.
will the state of florida issue you a non driver identification card?
so that you can take the exam with the non driver id card.....
if you scan through this forum a lot of people had to let go off job offers due to the gc process. .......
another thing you may want to consider is getting help from the congressman or your countrys consular officer or if necessary ask your family back home to get in touch with the foreign ministry....
most of the people here are rooting for each other. No need to get tasty
Good luck.

thanks mraman010311 for your input. I will try your sugestions. And I apologize to anyone I offended by saying married can be an easy way. The only reason I said the was because a few years when my F1 status was about to expire (finished school) people were telling to just get married. And told always told them I cant do it unless it was real. I waited a long time to get thing done the right way. Those same people are now telling me that if I had gotten married after F1, I would be ok now. So naturally when someone this board suggested I let my F1 expire I was thought s/he was thiniking in the lines as the other people. So again my apologies. Thanks for your advice.

I went to the dmv and begged and begged and after a talking to supervisors and a few phone calls the issued a temp card which expires in a year, so I will be able to take my exam. Thank you very much mraman010311 for your help and for being positive. We need more people like you on this board.
