quick advance parole usage question ...

The Adv Parole I have now got approved on June 6 2005 (06/06/2005) and I used it when I returned from my India trip on July 27 2005. When I came back the immigration officer put a stamp on my I-94 saying “paroled until July 26 2006” – i.e. a year from my first re-entry using it.

I am going to Toronto for a trip on June 7th (in a few days). I am going to use Advance Parole to re-enter US on June 10th.

So my question is: even though it will be more than a year from AP approval date (June 6 2005) when I re-enter, I am still good to re-enter because it’s the July 26,2006 date that matters?

nope - the stamp isn't what matters. what matters is the date on your advanced parole document.

In addition to the "date issues" on the upper right, there should be a sentence on the document that says "presentation of the original of this document prior to XXX will authorize an immigration officer at a port of entry in the US to permit the named bearer, whose photograph appears hereon, to enter the US..."

The date in that sentence is the "expiration date" for your advanced parole doc.

Second what Nora&Simon said .... you cannot re-enter after June 5, 2006 as your AP would have expired.

There used to be something called as 30 day automatic revalidation for H/L visa holders -- check if there is anything similar for you to use -- I doubt it, but you can try.

To be really safe, get a new AP document before you go.

thanks!

Thanks for the info. I am not going out of the country without a new AP.

The i-94 stamp saying "paroled till 7/26/06" is somewhat misleading (even though I should have read more about it. Anyways, I wasn' t gonna go to Canada without checking out with some folks around like you. So thanks :)
