Questions regarding emergency travel

  • I had an emergency AP last year and will soon expire. Can I get another one if something happens? Is there a limit on how many emergency AP you can get?
  • My case is ND Aug/2002, FP2 done, so approval, although still far, should be on the horizon, right? I heard that there may be some trouble if approval arrives while you are ouside on AP. Is that true? Anything I should prepare?
Thanks

--------I think you can get emergency AP with local INS office if you have proof to convince the officer. In fact, you can leave US after applying for a new AP as you have an old and valid AP in hand.

  • -------NO trouble when you are abroad with a valid AP. Just show AP when you are through POE.

1. there is no limit to the number of AP you can apply while you're waiting for your GC. it is valid for one year, so you can apply AP yearly. might as well apply for it now, while no emergency has happened yet. it takes at least 3 months. if you urgently need it, you can request for Expedite process, attaching to your AP application a Medical Certificate or other document that justifies expedite process.

2. there is absolutely no problem if your GC gets approved and you're traveling outside US. this happened to me. guestusa is right, you just present your AP.

Thanks. It's a medical situation which can't stand a 3 months wait, should have applied ealier. I'll try again with emergency AP. Last year I waited in 3 times at 6AM, 2AM and 11PM and finally got it :(
