Questions pertaining citizenship..

Hello good sirs and good ma'ams.
I have a few specific questions about regarding citizenship since I will be turning 18 soon and I've lived in the USA the past 5 years while holding a greencard. So here are my questions.

1. My greencard doesn't have a fingerprint on it, is that okay or will it cause delays or cause problems for me during my application process?
2. I will be 18 and I won't be using a immigration lawyer when I apply for citizenship.. Will my age or me not using a lawyer make my application go slower?
3. From what I can gather.. only the N-400 form is necessary to apply as a citizen right?
4. How long does obtaining your Citizenship usually take? My local office would be the one in Newark.. How long does it usually take from the time you mail the N-400 form? I really want to finish it before I head off to college, but I 've heard that it takes around 1- 1.5 years....

Thank you so much in advance!

Have either of your parents naturalized already? Kids get it along with parents under most circumstances. If you are already a citizen and file an N-400 it will be denied and you would be told to file an N-600 instead.

Once you turn 18, if you are not a USC, file the N-400 BUT read the Instructions closely first.

Once a child with a greencard turns 14 they are supposed to file an I-90 and get fingerprinted. This is your parents' fault, not yours, you won't get in trouble. Skip it, you will be fingerprinted as part of the N-400 process.

You also, if male, must register for selective service (see www.sss.gov)

You can check the processing times for the individual offices at www.uscis.gov (4 to 6 months for most)

Your age and, hopefully, uneventful short life should mean that you have barely any background to check. The civics and english test should be easy for you.

Unless you have a criminal record, you don't need a lawyer.
