Hi Guys..
This is my first post on this forum.
Well.. my story goes like this:
I finished my bachelors in US in May 2006. Then I started a Masters to stay in status. At the same time, I got an offer from a consulting firm to work with them. So, in May itself they applied for my H1 (and asked me to pay for it, about $4500).
Well, around in beginning of October, I was told by the company that my visa was approved. Since then they've been trying to place me somewhere.
Now I have different questions:
a) Firstly, they're not paying me yet. They said that I'm officially "employed" with them but I have nothing to show for it. For this reason, I never left school. I'm still enrolled for this semester (even though I've stopped going to classes). Is it safe for me to withdraw from my university even though this company is not paying me yet and they haven't (to my knowledge) submitted a transfer of status application (if it's needed)?
b) Now this might be common or might be just in my case, but as these guys get a certain percentage from my pay, they want me to work as an expert. So, they told me that I should have a new resume with 5 years of fake experience (I'm not at all comfortable with this) so that I can get better pay. Is this legal? Am I going to get in trouble because of this? What should I do to get out of this? I found that they even made me a fake resume with experience on it and are marketing that.
c) I've been getting various offers from other reputable companies, but I'm stuck with these guys as they haven't given me a pay stub yet or even a copy of the approval letter. What can I do?
Basically I don't want to be a part of anything illegal esp. if I have offers from other companies. I would really appreciate your help in this matter.
Thanks
