questions from a j1 internal medicine resident

Hi experts,

i am a J1 physician doing Internal Medicine residency. My wife is a J1 researcher.
i thought of staying one more year in the US after I finish, to work as an hospitalist.
Is it possible without the 3 year waiver program (I dont really need the 'waiver'...since I dont want to immigrate...)
can I change to J2 and then have a DEA and work ?

N.B
Is there a way to do moonlighting while a resident or a fellow on J2 ? (I know that its impossible on j1)

do you get Academic Training for up to 18 months after the completion of your program? see if it applies to you. It definitely applies to J-1 students, but I am not sure about the rest of the categories.
