Salut les amis

CNEU00005xxx

bonne chance

Sorry, I can’t really write in French very well but I can read it ok and wanted to answer your post too. Hopefully you don’t mind if it’s in English :)

A “transcript” is usually an official list of all the subjects/courses taken and the grades received. It is not generally required - but for people part way through a university degree they may want to bring it with them to show what they have been doing and help convince the interviewing officer that they will be able to get a job. I believe your baccalauréat is all you will need to meet the minimum requirements, but it is worth bringing proof of higher education too (your licence). I was asked for proof of my University Degrees and when I gave it to them, they did not ask about high school.

I think the comments by the woman at KCC just mean they will be processing them soon, not that they are ready to go to the consulate. After they have processed them, if you have made any mistakes they will either return the forms to you for correction (like you forgot to answer a whole question) or if there are minor mistakes then they may send it to the consulate at the appropriate time and the consulate will just have you correct the mistakes during your interview (I had to correct one of my answers with the consulate).

You have a low case number so it may not really be that long before your interview. Good luck.

Salut bonno,

I ll ask my question in english this time.
I have a husband and a baby boy, do you think having 15000 euros in our bank statement is suffucient for the interview? Do you think it is a reasonable amount?

Here is the link to the 2009 poverty guidelines mentioned by aliceUSA:
http://travel.state.gov/visa/laws/telegrams/telegrams_4437.html

According to this a family of 3 would require US$22,888 (i'm not sure what the current Euro-Dollar exchange rate is). But this appears to be used only as a guideline, not a firm rule. There have been accounts from people on this forum who have had that much money and were asked to provide an affidavit of support as well, and there have been accounts from people who have had less than that and been approved.

I believe they take everything about you into consideration (not just how much money you have), what they will be most concerned about is how likely you are to get work and support yourself. If you speak English well and have good qualifications then you should be able to find employment easier than somebody with plenty of money, but can't speak English and has no qualifications.

Yes I agree with you MarcNZ, they take everything into consideration. What sounds weird to me is that in Arizona, at least, a green card holder can never become a public charge because he can not ask for medicare/medicaid, for foodstamps ... absolutely nothing for 5 years, no financial help. So why are they so scared that people become a public charge ? here it is not possible though they help a LOT of mexicans ... Is it different in other states ? If so, I understand their public charge fear.

I don't think it is very different in other states. The rules about no federal benefits for 5 years is the same everywhere. I think some states may have a few minor benefits that new immigrants can apply for, but I doubt it would be enough to live off anyway. When they say they don't want people to become a "public charge" I think what they must really mean is that they don't want people to end up unemployed and living on the streets, which is fine but if that is the case then maybe they could use a term other than "public charge" because as you pointed out - that doesn't seem to be possible anyway.

I also believe that the Consulate take everything into consideration: Your qualification, your potentiality to get a good job (and pay taxes), how good is your English...etc.
In fact, the main question is not only money related, but you better find someone to provide you with an Affidavit of support (Form I-134 for DV).

Affisdavit of support=sponsor right?
Why would i need Affidavit of support if i can show a bank statment with the minimum required (in our case approximatly 22000 dollars) if both my husband and i are qualified (me=bachelor degree, husband= master's), have good jobs in France
and if we both speak good english (and french and spanish, and arabic...)

Plus i don't know anyone in the states that could sponsor me.
One last thing thank you for your previous answers, it helped me a lot and good luck for your interview.

bonno,
Affidavit of support = have a sponsor (USC or LPR)
FYI, the Education requirement (Baccalaureat) only apply to the DV Principal Applicant (PA), not to any beneficary.

I believe that the Affidavit of support (form I-134) is not a strict requirement if you can proove a good financial status, that must be ok. But it can also depends on the consulate post that will process your case;and besides the consular officer.
Some consulates don't even ask for the Affidavit of support (form I-134).
By all miss, the general rule to get your visa is to prepare any paper that may help in case of ...
