Questions about TN Visa

Hi,

I have several questions about the TN Visa and was wondering if you could provide some guidance. I am a Canadian Citizen who lives and works in Switzerland. I have my own company based in Switzerland. I am a management consultant who qualifies under the NAFTA professional worker status (i.e. university degree in business and more than 5 years work experience). I have been asked by 2 separate clients to do work for them next year in the US. I will be entering the US on 3 separate occasions for 1 client and 2 separate occasions for the 2nd client in 2011. I will be staying a maximum of 2 weeks every time I work in the US:

1) Should I be applying for a TN Visa or some other type of visa?
2) How many times do I have to apply for a TN Visa in 2011? Every time I enter the US in 2011 to work for one of the clients? or Can I get 1 TN Visa which covers me for multiple entries in 2011 for both clients?
3) What documentation do I and both of the clients have to provide to secure the TN Visa? When does this documentation have to provided i.e. each time I apply for the TN Visa?
4) I saw on the US Dept of State website (sorry not permitted to post URL) that in order to secure a TN Visa I need to complete a DS-160 form and provide a 2X2 photograph. Am I reading this correctly as on other sites there is no mention of the DS-160 form.
5) Do I need a US Social Security number or inform the IRS so that I can be taxed on the revenue that I earn? Note that the revenue I receive will be paid to company bank account in Switzerland.

Thank you in advance for taking the time to respond to my questions.

TN would be perfect. You would need 1 TN for each client.
As a Cdn citizen, you don't go thru state department. You come to the border and get TN> Period. No fuss.
You will be taxed in US only if you spend more than 183 days in US in any 12-month period. That is a tax treaty issue. You will ask for an SSN after you get TN>

How many times do I need to apply for a TN Visa for each client?

Thanks for your quick response and clarifications nelsona. It is much appreciated.

I was wondering if I have to apply for a TN Visa every single time I enter the US or do I just apply once per year for each client.

I am scheduled to enter the US for client #1 in January, March, and September. I am scheduled to enter the US for client #2 in May and November.

If I just have to apply once for the TN Visa in January for client 1 what exactly do I have to do to only apply once for my TN Visa i.e. what documentation or what do I have to say at the POE?

Looking forward to your response.

A TN applied for a client, will be vaild for upto 3 years as long as the relationship with the client is viable.
You will apply for TN # 1 as you enter in january, and apply for TN #2 in may.

You can find TN requirements by googling as I mentionned to other poster.
