Questions about timeline in Memphis DO

Hi. I just stumbled upon your great site looking for information that would help me and my wife understand a little better what we have ahead of us. I am a USC sponsoring her (French national with an H1B) and we are both academics. We got married in November of last year and filled (without a lawyer) the I130/I485 a couple of weeks after. Priority Date is 12/01/2005 and fingerprints were done on 01/25/2006. We have already received and interview letter for 05/04/2006, at the Memphis DO.

We are contemplating the possibility of going on the job market to find a teaching job at a different university but would like to either see the AOS thru before we move, or make sure it is well under way. By looking at people's experiences on your site it seems that after a successful interview the conditional GC is issued within a few days provided that the security checks (name & biometrics) are completed by that time. Is this true for each case or would USCIS only issue conditional GC's after PD's become current. Thanks in advance for any light you can shed on the matter.

Wow Memphis is getting faster and faster. My DO is Memphis and you can find my timeline in my signature.
Hope you don't get the rude officer that I got for my interview.
Regarding your quetion, spouse of USC doesn't have to wait for their priority date to become current. It is current for them always. If everything goes fine in your interview, the officer will stamp your passport for Conditional GC and you will receive the GC in mail soon after that.

Thanks for the quick reply amishah. What you said regarding spouses of USC's not having to wait makes perfect sense. I got confused because I called the USCIS 800 number yesterday to pose this very question and was told by a polite automaton that 1) he had no information on the status of security checks and 2) we should expect the entire AOS process in Memphis to take no more and no less than 18 months, regardless of where we were in the process.

Time between interview and Oath (Memphis/ Nashville)

Dear Forum Members,

yes, Memphis is picking up speed. Evidently the processing time for N-400 are shorter than indicated by the published progress report.
Does anybody have experience with the time span between the interview and the oath ceremony? Is it in general a problem if you leave the US between interview and oath ceremony (Nashville) ? As I am currently under the obligation of military service (draft) in my birth country, I have to do reserve training fairly soon after the interview.
Thanks for the Info

Timeline:
N-400 Mail: January 17, 2006
Fingerprints: February 28, 2006
Interview Scheduled: July 5, 2006

Wow, that is fast, I applied for the AOS in May 2004 and did not get the interview till June 2005 almost 15 months and now it look like they are getting the same amount of work done in 7-8 months.

Hi All, Even my DO is Memphis. Amishah can you share about your interview experience with us?
