Questions about H1 and H4 .. please help

Dear Friends,

I am worried about my wife's H4 stamp. I have a few questions:

1. I am from Pune and am planning to get my H1B stamp in Mumbai. However, I won't be in India for long. How long does it take normally to get the Passport and Visa back via courier once we appear for the appointment ? (I would be giving my local address in Pune)

2. Can my wife and I apply for H1B and H4 stamps respectively, on the same day, with the same appointment ?

3. My wife is a Malaysia citizen. If we get married in Malaysia and our marriage is registered in Malaysia, can she apply for H4 at any of the two consulates (Mumbai or Kuala Lumpur,Malaysia) ?

4. If we apply for H4 in Mumbai, do we have to get our marriage registered in India first ?

5. Finally, is it possible to get the H4 stamp on the same day, if all the documents are in proper order ? If not, does the originial passport of my wife stay with them until they issue the H4 ?

I would greatly appreciate any help/advise.

@@@ Yes you can apply on the same day and same appointment

@@@ Not sure about malasia .. but she can apply in MUmbai..All they need is marriage certificate

@@@ I dont think so .. All they want is Registered Marriage Certificate

5. Finally, is it possible to get the H4 stamp on the same day, if all the documents are in proper order ? If not, does the originial passport of my wife stay with them until they issue the H4 ?
@@ You will come to know once after the interview.. If they dont issue visa .. they wont take your passport..

Just referring to the last question, as you said if they don't issue the visa they won't take the passport. So, if they request any additional documents, do they still give the passport back ?

And, do we have to take another appointment once we have those requested documents ?

Besides this, with those additional documents, do we have to necessarily apply at the same consulate again?

I am asking this, coz we might have just one appointment in Mumbai given our limited period in India. If we do not get H4 in a single appointment, we might consider applying in Malaysia after that.

Would this (applying to another consulate after one appointment in Mumbai)have any negative effect on the chances of getting H4?
