Questions about getting a Citizenship

I am a perm. resident. Someone told me that if I ever go into homeless shelter or get food stamps, it would work against me if I try to get citizenship. True? If so, where does it say in the Internet about this? If not true, where does the person get this idea from and where on the Internet can I see some text that the person could have inferred this misunderstanding?

I also am under the impression that even if you don't get citizenship, you can indefinitely renew your green card every 10 years. true? If so, then would history of being in homeless shelter or getting food stamps get in the way of getting my green card renewed?

as long as you are eligigble for shleter and food stamp, it does not have any impact on yoru eligibility for citizenship. Unlike I-485, there
is no such question as "Have you ever received public assistance?" on the N400 form. The only way you need to disclose
yori homelessness is what you should put down on the past 5 years residence? You want to write "from 2006-2007, homeless"?
Heck you can use the address of homeless shelter for that.

Public charge is an inadmissibility criteria. It may cause an issue if come back after you stay outside USA for more than 6 month. Retuning
from >6 month overseas trip is considered to be seeking re-admission. When you seek admission/re-admission, inadmissibility may

Just curious, if someone is homeless (that is no money to afford to rent/buy a home), then how is one going to pay $675.

The OP meant he was once homeless for a period in the past but now he has money. Someone once here suggest one can get fee waivered.

i was told that due to the sheer volume of application for citizenship, I CAN or SHOULD file my N-400 one year ahead of completing the 5 years residency, since it would take a year before the process the application.... is there any truth to this info?

Whoever told you this is clueless. Best case the application will be returned to you - worst case you're out of $675. Chances of getting citizenship for an application filed a year ahead of eligibility is 0.

Figure out your DO and see how long its taking there. In most cases it'll be approx 3 months from application to Interview and then depending on your DO, you could get the oath the same day(or a few weeks later). Not really a 'sheer volume and delay' situation.

Even if it was taking 5 years to process the N400, you are only allowed to apply 90 days before your 5 year (or 3 yr if married to USC) anniversary.
