Questions about a unique scenario (TN, Canadian)

Hi all. I'm going to be graduating from university soon and intend to work in the United States for a large company. I'm Canadian and the company will likely sponsor a TN status for me.

As I understand, when on TN, you can only work for the company that is sponsoring you. What about other forms of income/work? First, I have lifetime royalties that I receive from a company based in the United States. Will this be a problem at all? Second, what if I want to do part-time contract work for this other company, is that still possible? What if I do some work for a friend and they want to pay me for it?

All advice is appreciated.

That's not work, so it should not be a problem.

No, you cannot do work in the US for someone other than the company that you are admitted on TN for (unless you get a concurrent TN for the second job).

Is it difficult to get a concurrent TN for part-time contractor work? If I get a TN for my full-time job at the large company, then try to get a concurrent TN for the contract work, will the large company be notified? Note that the contract work is all remote.

There is no notification process for TN. If the job matches your education credentials and is otherwise TN-eligible, a second TN is simple.
