they require birth certificate ,I have it but there is spelling mistake on my name in the birth certificate like for eg my name on all my school records and college records starts is RAFIQ,but on birth cert. and passport/visa its RAFEEQ though I corrected my name in the passport to RAFIQ but it is not corrected in the visa.
MY question is
will I have problem during the interview regarding my spelling on my name
what can I do ???can I send them my 10th borad exam mem0 instead of my birth certificate which has my corect spelling RAFIQ instead Of RAFEEQ and requet them have my corrected name on the green card

Hi, Mr. Needy,

Do you have a correct spell of our name on you Driver’s license? Your SS card?
What name do you have on your marriage license?
Same like on your passport? If all other documents, except your BC and visa have a correct name then you should be fine.
Make a copy of all above mentioned documents and file together as a supporting evidence. Along with a passport and birth certificate copies.
Do not send any exams memos. It’s irrelevant.

When your wife files I-130 for your and when you file I-485 and biographic form, you have to make sure to have a corrected spell of your name on those forms.
The name you write on your I-485 application will be the name printed on your GC.

Thanks for the reply maam, ITS not corrected on my marraige certificate, its the same as it was in the passport.
I dont have a DL AND an ss As I am here on visit visa.
any more input will be appreciated.

Just write the name you want to have on you GC on e v e r y immigration form you’ll send to USCIS and sign. And, if it’s going to make you feel better – type a personal letter to go along with your I-485 explaining discrepancy in you name. You should be fine.

then do u thk i should go a head and send the documents with what i have or send my bc and mc to my home country and get them corrected .i am asking this bcoz if its not a big deal then why should i take all the truble to do this am I rite???

should the doucuments be one sided or on bothside of the paper i mean front and back, also do u send the cheque for fingerprinting along with 1485

unless asked for, do not volunteer extra information...both side copies, if they have relevant important information.....

and updated information regarding fees is on the uscis website. Yes you do send the check for fingerprinting.

Fee: New Fee: If your application is postmarked on or after April 30, 2004, the required fee is $315 if you are 14 years of age or older. If you are under 14 years of age, the required fee is $215.

A separate fee for biometrics(fingerprinting and photos) is also be required when the applicant (ages 14 - 79) is present in the United States.**

If you are applying for permanent residence based on having been admitted to the U.S. as a refugee, there is no application fee; however, applicants age 14 - 79 will still need to pay a $70 biometrics fee.
Anything else?

Hello again.

There is no special forms to file for fingerprints and biometrics.
Just submit a separate check for $70 payable to USCIS along with your I-485 application fee.
You’ll get the instruction in mail to schedule your biometrics appointment.
That’s all.

About your name change…. I’d say you’ll be fine, since you already had your name corrected in your passport and, if you continue using it, including typing it on every application you’ll file with immigration service, then it’s not a big deal.
As soon as you get a receipt from USCIS that your application to adjust a status is in process you can go ahead and apply for SS, DL and EAD using your corrected passport and the receipt letter as evidence.
But – if you feel safer to correct all your documents before applying for GC, then do as you wish.

If you ordered those forms form USCIS directly by mail, then it’s double-sided, if you printed them out your computer, then one-sided. Either way is fine, as long as it is a correct form for the benefit you seek.
