I have a situation, My LPR spouse and US born kids have been living abroad since last 1+year and I will be applying for citizenship next month. and there is no immediate plan to have them come back to US.

1. Do you guys have any experience/thoughts on having this any effect on my application?
2. In Address section for my spouse and kids what address should I use? I was planning to put same US address as me? could that be an issue?

I do not think its a good idea that you "pretend" that your family is living with you in the US when they are abroad this could be a big problem if they were to ask for proof and you won't have any,, then things can be bad for you because you lied to an IO.

Agreed and thats exactly is my concern.

But the point here is their stay outside US is a temporary one and due to some unforeseen circumstances. And I and the whole family consider my address as home. If IO asked me, I would definitely tell the truth, but would they catch this before even Interview?

I didn't even think about this until today when I was actually looking over n-400 form.

Your spouses and children's area of residence only come into play if your continous residency is questioned. Otherwise, where they live while you apply has no effect on your eligibility for citizenship.

Thanks for your reply Bobsmyth.

Any suggestion on address I should use? Their stay outside is of course a temporary one.

They've been outside the US for over a year. Unless they already have a reentry permit, or are successful at obtaining an SB-1 visa, they may be stuck outside the US permanently (or at least until they can redo the green card process if their cards are revoked for abandonment).

The kids are citizens, so there's only one card at stake here.

As soon as i get naturalized, getting the spouse back here should not be a problem.
The only thing I am worried about is my n-400 asks for A# for spouse and they might be able to find out that my spouse has been out of US for more than a year?

Since their address doesn't have any effect on your eligibility, it really doesn't matter what address you use.
