SM,

I remember you said that you did not use AR11, though you moved. Did you get RFE before you moved or after?

Don't your paystubs show that your tax jurisdiction is someother state other than CA? How did you manage that?
And isn't a punishable crime to not tell your correct location thr AR11?

Thanks much.

But what about the state tax that gets deducted, won't that show your "new state" tax on your paystubs? Is that ok?
I guess they did not ask you anymore details on it.
Just wondering, will not informing address change using AR11, revoke GC, if found ?

Hi Mango_pickle,
State tax will be deduted based on your address in the pay stuff. We are supposed to give our current resident address. By fearing that they will transfer our case and it will take long time to get GC approval, we are doing some kind of adjustment with the employer. I moved from CA to MA and requested my employer to keep my CA friend address address in the paystuff and communication address is my MA address. So i am paying CA tax and staying in MA. This is not we are supposed to do. What we can do to get GC?. So it's kind of misusing. Once we get GC, then we can change our paystuff address to current address and will start paying correct state tax.
Regarding revoke GC, they will not find out, more than that once they approve the GC, they would not do checking about anything we did wrong. They have lot of work to approve all GC pending applications. Purely it depends on luck. So pray to your god. All the best. No one knows. Life is always risk only.
I am not asking you to do this. I am just following what my gut feeling says. So if anything goes wrong, i am responsible. So act on your internal feelings and best advise from your fellow friends. Please do not take this as a advise.

garu1gsr,

Your paystubs showed the new address, but CSC did not bother. I think I have to do the same.

I donot know if my company will agree to use CA address.
Lets see how it goes.

thanks everybody.

It depends on where your employer is ..

I was a consultant in NJ while my company which is based in CA filed in CSC. I am using a c/o address (my brother's) in CA and no problem so far. Even got my 2nd FP scheduled at San Jose. Got EADs, APs etc ... I even joined the client I was working for after 180 days. Filed an AC21 with CSC......

My pay stubs shows NJ address for past 3 years. And filed NJ tax alll along. Since GC is for future employement and with AC21, I (and my lawyer) feel there should be no problem. Only time will tell.

It is illegal not to file AR 11, it is a totally different thing to have a base address in a different state for correspondence purposes, but AR 11 is an absolute must for current address.

It is not that they will catch you right off, but it might cause problems later on. There is no harm in maintaining two addresses. You can use your CA address for INS and file AR11 to whatever state you move too.

Is it ok to file AR 11 now- after 3 years??

140_takes_forever,

How do I find out what is the last address on their file, because they have a question about my last address? Will it clash with my 485??

Thanks.

brokenarrow,

AR 11 is very different from updating your address records with INS. AR11 is required to be filed by everyone who is not a US Citizen.

If you have moved in the past without filing an AR11, I suggest you do so immediately. As far as your address on record with INS is concerned, you can always call them and verify it, if it is wrong, you can file a form (don't remember the number) to fix it.

question

i am planning to e-file (by myself) the 3rd EAD renewal. should i use my friend's address in the EAD application as I anticipate a move soon with in the same city (to reduce the commute)?
in that case should I file AR 11? How can I let the INS know they have to use an address that I do not plan on living in? What about pay stubs and DMV? what address should they have?

Again, AR11 has nothing to do with your AOS!

AR11 is to allow the government to keep track of non-citizens.

You MUST file AR 11 every time you move, it has to reflect your current address, if you don't complie and you are caught regardless of your blameless existance so far you could still be deported!

As far as INS documents are concerned, it is allowed for you to have a different address for correspondence. It does not have to match the address on AR 11, so shouldn't be a problem to use your friends address if you have the confidence that he won't screw you over!

Good luck!
