Question related to H1 expiration, I485 and EAD?

Hi!

My company applied for my 485 last year and got EAD and AP.
My H1 expired this January and the attorney told that there is no need for H1 renewal.

I am confused of the I9 that many are referencing here. Can any of you give me some information regarding the importance of I9 and does it have to be filed if H1 expires?

Here it is

I9 form is a proof to INS that you are an employee of that company for which you are filling the I9 form . That\'s it. It has nothing to do with any other things.

By the way, you may get an RFE in future as INS now has documents of your H1 which is an expired one.
