hi guys
i had posted a tread regarding travel to india thru amsterdam. now my plans have changed and i am flying thru france.
me and my wife have pending AOS and we dont have valid visas on our passport. i have been working for my new company using EAD. we have advance parole.
my question is
1. is it safe to travel in this senario?
2. do we need transit visa for france?

thanks a lot in advance :)

The letter says 'valid US visa'. I do not know if AP is considered as valid US visa.

Thanks

Hi Ndindia ,rg585 is wrong about this one, i was in the same impression that i dont need a transit visa if i was travelling through france ,but we need a transit visa if we dont have a valid visa on the passport and travelling with advance parole,i am leaving to india on 28 on advance parole and i called the french embassy they said i need a transit visa if i am travelling on advance parole,so better take it.its an easy process and it will take not more than 1 hour , all u need is print the form from webiste and take ur original copy of advance parole, passport photo, passport and ur itenary or tickets confirmed to india and also 45$ in cash or money order.

u can visit this website http://www.consulfrance-newyork.org/ to download the form.

Kalyan.

Valid Visa or I-512 (which is the Advance Parole Form), so you do not need a Transit Visa.

Kalyan,
I had to go thru the same process last year when Delta did not allow me to board since the Agent did not know what the Advance Parole document was. I went to the French Consulate the next day to apply for a Transit Visa, they checked my Passport, looked at the Advance Parole and told me that I did not need a Transit Visa. However, Delta had put a note against my reservation already that I did need a transit visa, so I requested the French Consulate and they did give me a Transit Visa, even though I did not need one.
I asked them whether they could give me a letter stating that I do not need a Transit visa via Paris using an Advance Parole, but they could not do it at that stage, but later, since more people had the same problem as me, they came out with the statement that was put in the link above.

NDINdia, I would advice you to fax a letter to whichever French Consulate is closer to you and ask them to Fax you a similar letter issued by the French Consulate in Atlanta. You could possibly send a Copy of your Passport and expired H1-B visa and the Advane Parole so they can send you a letter stating that you do not need a Transit Visa. Better to be safe than sorry, since I had to miss my flight as stated in my previous message.

i will call France consulate and update the info
