Question regarding "Time as a resident in district or state"

Hello,

The guide to naturalization states the requirement of "3 months time as a resident in district or state".

I will be eligible to apply for naturalization in June 2007. However, I am planning to be out of the country for 6 weeks, and I will be back in July 07. Am I considered to be "not resident" in the district/state during this out of country stay of 6 weeks?

Can I apply for citizenship as soon as I return in July, or do I need to wait for another 3 months (Oct 07)?

Thank you,

Your six weeks abroad would not effect your residency in the district so long as all other requirements are met. Keep proof of your attachment to your district in case an inquisitive IO wants more info. Proof such as lease or mortgage, utulities and the like. You can certainly apply for the N-400 as soon as you get back.

It's "residency" not presence. As long as your mail continues to be delivered, and you keep a residence and you don't change your driver's license, you are ok
