Question on Transit (C1) visa

Hi All.
My friend who is on C1 visa is working as a chef on a cruise ship.
He is interested in coming and visiting us during his vacation time.
What kind of visa should he apply for ? Any help in this regard would
be appreciated.

He need to apply B2 visa from his home country

For crews, they have C1 D visa. But they need to apply B2 visa from home country. If applied from any other ports country, application will be denied. Good luck to your friend.
