Question on L2 EAD Renewal

Hi,

I got my first L2 EAD on Feb 2010, then my visa was valid only till Jun 2010. But later got my L2 extended (along with my husband's L1) till Aug 2011. I could'nt get any job till my first EAD expired and now I have a job and they want me to start ASAP. So I would like to apply for EAD renewal,
1. how long it would take? (I got my first EAD in the time span of 3 months) Won't the renewal process be sooner that that?
2. Can I request for an interim EAD until I get the EAD renewed?
3. Also my husband has got his H1 from Oct 2010 and if I get my EAD renewed will I be able to continue working on it, because I guess, I would get a renewed EAD that would be valid until Aug 2011?

Thanks,
Swetha

You cannot start without a valid EAD in hand. You were foolish not to apply for the EAD extension/renewal at the time of the L2 extension. You currently do not have a valid work permit.

Once your husband's status changes to H1B, you will no longer be in L2 status and will be working legally if you continue. You would need to have an H4 COS filed for you as well.

Your employer should file for an H1B for you if the job and your qualifications meet the requirements. Otherwise, if your husband goes to H1B on Oct 1, you must quit work on Sept 30 or be working illegally.

As soon as he ceases to be on L-1B status, your L-2 status is no longer valid. Thus the EAD that was issued to you as an L-2 status holder ceases to be valid either.

3. Also my husband has got his H1 from Oct 2010 and if I get my EAD renewed will I be able to continue working on it, because I guess, I would get a renewed EAD that would be valid until Aug 2011?
