Question on I485 approval/PP stamping while travelling.

I have a 09/10 RD. My wife will be going out of the country for 3 months shortly. What will happen if the I-485 is approved, while she is outside the country? Does she have to come back immediately to get the passport stamped with me? Or can she get her PP stamped at a later time? Does anybody have any experience on this?
