Hi Everyone:

I got my IA back in end of August 04 (interview waived, applied in Dec 03, AOR Jan 04) and sent in the FBI fingerprint cards requested in early Sept. It has been more than 8 weeks since I mailed these out.

I still have not received the cards back from FBI, but I have verified that the money orders that I sent for the processing fees were encashed at the end of Oct. It has been more than 2 weeks since the money orders were encashed and my 90 day deadline for returning documents to Buffalo expires in a few days. I would really appreciate if folks who have had similar experience can please answer the following questions:

1. Does anyone have a rough idea how long it is taking to receive the cards after the payment has been processed? Is there any way I contact FBI regarding this?

2. In case I do not receive the cards back in time, do I need to request an extension (even if say it is a week or two late?)

FP tracking

You should be able to call the FBI customer service line and they should be able to tell you the status as to whether its still in a queue, if they are processing it and the timeline, or whether its already in the mail...Sorry, I don't have the number available right now but will post it if I can find it..I called them up last year when I was in a similar situation.

Good Luck.

FP tracking

one of these numbers should work..choose an option to speak to a customer service agent..they should be able to track your file based on ssn or last name..hope this helps..

Main switchboard: 304-625-2222
304-625-3878.

Good Luck.

I submitted my PR application in June 04 and got my case number/confirmation letter from them in July 04.

I did not submit my finger prints along with the application to the Canadian consulate. Therefore, Is it a good idea to complete my finger printing process and submit the results? or shall I wait until they ask me to submit them?

Please advise.

Thanks

Finger Printing methods - Live Scan vs Hard copy

Why are we not discussing about latest and fastest methods like Live Scan for finger printing?

Is Live Scan OK or one must submit Finger prints on FBI's hard copy only?

For Canadian immigration process we will have to follow the procedure provided in the Guides on the CIC website. Live scan is not mentioned there so I believe we cant do it.

I have read some where ( ) that one can submit finger prints using Live Scan. Mostly check their CJIS website. I can't recall. But nobody has ever tried this for the fear that it is not mentioned in CIC website.

Ofcourse, it's like Indian's human mentality (Do whatever others do). BTW, I have sent hard copy finger prints only to just to follow "Do whatever others do". But internally, I have strong feeling that FBI will appreciate since some there I have read that they will not open the mail sent by us for a week or so due to bombs etc.

It now takes any where from 8-9 weeks to get your finger prints. I had mailed on August'25th04 received on Nov'1st

As far as Canadian immigration is concerned I believe that everyone should "Do whatever CIC ask us to do" as the instructions are clear and precise.

Yes, I totally agree that CIC web site clearly states about FBI finger printing on Hard copy. I also agree that it's the ideal method.

Having said that - This website --- Skilled Worker Class --- was last updated in "Last Updated: 2003-04-24". That is more than 1.5 yrs back. Please note Live Scan is latest and fastet method.

Also note that CIC will not look for our finger prints, they look for what FBI has mentioned on that form.

So My final argument is that NO one has ever tried the best and fastest method nor they contacted Canadian office in this regard. I would bet they will appeciate if someone suggests that Live Scan is there and request them to update their website to add this option. Sorry I already sent hard forms before I got this idea. :(

What is the procedure?

Hi Wizard818, Can you please let me know how you verified that the MO has been cashed? Actually I am in the same boat. Sent my FBI Cards on Oct 17th and waiting curiously. thanks.

Hi sooo_tired

Did you get your FBI fingerprints result? I am also in the same boat like you, sent my Fingerprint card on October 18, 2004 and still waiting. But the person who took my fingerprints told me that it might take as long as 10 weeks right now. Please let us know if you have received it.

Thanks.
