Question on entry to the US with DV stamp

I just had a successful CP and now I have the DV stamp in my passport as well as the brown envelope and xrays that they told me I should have with me at immigration control.

My question is the following:
Does immigration take particularly long time when coming in with a DV?
I have a relatively short connection at JFK when I am traveling to the US (1 hour and 35 min), and I was wondering if there is a chance I could miss my connecting flight.
The US consul officer told me that I have a very straightforward case and she can't imagine why I would be held long, but I would like to know what people have experienced.

How long did it take for those of you who went through this?

I was wondering if there is a chance I could miss my connecting flight.
Definitely. Expect 30 min for all the paperwork, then picking up your baggage, customs and maybe change the terminal.

So, if I miss my connection due to a hold up at immigration, would the airline put me on the next flight, or would it be considered my responsibility and I would have to pay for another ticket?

(I've never missed a flight, and I don't really know how these things work...)

That is really under the courtesy of the airline you are flying with when you are delayed. Normally they would do that when you are nice and explain them the situation. I also have never missed a flight and believe me, I flew a lot.

I flew back from Europe this summer through denver international airport and the line at immgrations was pretty long. By the time i got thru immigrations, picked up my bags and then had to walk for almost 25 mins to the other terminal for my connection, i was 10 mins late at the gate. I was very lucky because the flight had been delayed for 45 mins. I would have definitely missed my flight. Things like that happen and we kinda have no control over it.

At JFK, walk to the booth that has the shortest line (doesn't matter who it's intended for). Act a bit stupid/naive at the immigration booth. Put on a smile.

It'll save you having to queue. Immigration takes about ten minutes.
Getting your bags or changing terminals, on the other hand....

The good news is that your connecting flight in domestic, and 99% of the time domestic flights are delayed for several hours/days/weeks.
