When we get the EAD after renewal, do we have to start using the renewed EAD immediately even though the old EAD is valid for next 2 months? When do we have to inform the employer of using the renewal EAD?
 
No need to inform employer...

Since A# is the same, no need to inform employer, unless employer is worried about it.
On the other hand, the new EAD expiry date is not going to change. What harm do you anticipate by giving (or not giving) new EAD to employer?

It makes sense. When the A# remains the same, we dont have to do anything.I was just wondering if we have to file I9 again but we dont have to as the A# remains the same. I did not occure to me earlier. I do appreciate your reply.
 
j-2 work permit?

Hi all,
1. My wife is on J-2. She needs EAD to work. what is the procedure to apply? Where to apply? We live in Michigan? Is any service center acceptable? Can she apply for SSN # right now or should wait for EAD? How long does it take to get EAD? your urgent reply appreciated.
