Question on duration

Hello everyone!

Can someone tell me what's the average time length from the point when a Green Card holder fulfills his/her 5-year period to the point when a citizenship is obtained/approved? In other words, when the Green Card holder is eligible, how long does it take before the citizenship is granted if it is applied as soon as the 5-year period is up?
 
It all depends on the Office that you are applying at, some are alower/quicker than others. There is really no way of knowing when you will be approved. Some are in as little as 4 months, some are in as much as 1 year and a half as in my case. I applied in Dallas and due to name check my case was delayed. I saw many getting thier oaths the same day, some a week later got thier oath in the mail, mine was given to me 8 months after my passing the interview and history test. There really is no other way to know how long your case will take from start to finish.

Oath : April 21, 2004 @9:00 am (TOMMOROW)

Congratulations on your oath.

It appears you waited 8 months to get the oath. Why is that? and did you do anything to get the oath letter?

Well

The week before I got the oath letter in the mail, I went up there to ask about my case. I am not sure if that was actually a reason that I got my oath later that week, but maybe so.

What I found out when I went to INS: ( March 30 2004)

That my case was approved by INS on January 23, 2004 and that since then it was just waiting for someone to assign me an oath date.

I got my oath letter in the mail within 6 days of going to the INS, I think that it is a great coincidence at the least that I got my oath just right after that so I contribute me getting my oath to actually going up there.

I forgot to add, that the reason it took so long was because I had the name check with FBI.
